From its inception in 1972, ENJA RECORDS has strived to present individualistic, original artists expressing themselves in the constantly evolving language of jazz. Established masters (Ben Webster, Tommy Flanagan, Clark Terry, Junior Mance), founding fathers of the new music (Eric Dolphy, Charles Mingus, Archie Shepp, Dewey Redman, Joe Lovano, Sun Ra, Sunny Murray) and the young lions of contemporary music from the core of the catalogue, Japanese artists (Yosuke Yamashita, Aki Takase, Sachi Hayasaka, Takeo Moriyama) and the European Scene (Maria João, Johannes Enders, Philip Catherine, Niels Henning Ørsted Pedersen, Karl Berger, John Tchicai) are becoming a more and more important component of the ENJA program. enjoy enja! |
