Born in Sidney, Australia, Peter O‘ Mara moved to Munich in 1981. He has since then worked with many musicians on the European Jazz scene including... Kenny Wheeler, Maria Joao, Charlie Mariano, Albert Mangelsdorff, Robben Ford, Johnny Griffin...He has also recorded with the likes of Joe Lovano, Dave Holland, Bob Mintzer, Anthony Jackson, Russell Ferrante... In 1990 he joined Klaus Doldingers "Passport" and since 1999 he is a member of the legendary UNITED JAZZ & ROCK ENSEMBLE. Peter O’Mara is teaching at the Music Highschool in Munich and Hamburg, as well as the Bruckner Conservatorium in Linz, Austria. The French Jazz Magazine called Peter "a glorious player, truly a discovery!", Down Beat Magazine wrote: "Peter O’Mara posesess the power to create – freely and spontaneously music of real power and coherence!" and the German Jazz Podium "...his guitar is sometimes gruff, jagged, but then melodically phrased, floating and bluesy. It was breathtaking,,," O’Mara’s new recording (dedicated to his friend and teacher Attila Zoller) features young & ambitious musicians like Matthias Gmelin age 19, his versatility and maturity at such a young age show a big future ahead for him; pianist Victor Alcantara has at age 21, just completed his studies at the Conservatory with honors both in Jazz and Classical Music; Henning Sieverts has already established himself as one of the most versatile bassists on the European scene and Johannes Enders once again shows that he is one of the most outstanding soloist in Europe.
